Vietnam needs to import machinery
Because the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement will be signed soon, Vietnam’s export tariff rate for the US and EU markets will drop from 17.5% and 9.6%, respectively, to 0%. Vietnam is now investing heavily in machinery for the production of textiles and garments, thus meeting the “yarn-forward principle” to ensure that its garments can be eligible for the duty-free facility.
Biggest event since 1990s
The response to the expo has been very good, with over 98% of the spaces already reserved. Once again, the size of the expo will break the record of the previous year (2014). Although the organisers have added six temporary halls, many exhibitors are still waiting for space allocation.
