Potential from the US – China trade war – The US has just announced a 25% import tariff on Chinese products. As this may well apply to textile and garment products in the future, international investors are expanding or moving their textile and garment production capabilities into Vietnam. Consequently, Vietnam will need to import more fabrics, materials and garment accessories from overseas to meet the increase in production.
Vietnam’s textile & garment industry will keep soaring till 2035
Having signed the Comprehensive Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement (EVFTA), it is expected that Vietnam’s annual textile & garment export amount will expand to USD 200 billion by 2035.
